As the Exit and Transition Manager you will be responsible for defining the activities required to exit services safely from an operational perspective and transition services under new contracts. You will develop a clear understanding of the existing components and a comprehensive view of how these must change in any new service offering. This will include detailed impact analysis of issues and changes to operational or administrative processes which will require active management. You will work with project, commercial and technical teams to develop initial logical transition plans in order to test timelines and set expectations going in preparation for going in to any procurement process.

You will:

  • Manage an approach to effectively address the existing commercial landscape by providing a method of treatment in order to reduce risk to the programme.
  • Interface and coordinate to ensure a single programme view when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assess the ability to terminate current contracts by the associated cost, working with finance leads to understand impact and realisation of any benefits.
  • Provide clarity on any renegotiation of said contracts that is necessary to support goals
  • Act as a focal point between procurement functions and the programme for matters pertaining to the programme; documentation of exit obligations and treatment of in scope contracts providing clarity on commercial terms.
  • Provide clarity on the risk to inform the programme.
  • Ensure the exiting suppliers transition activities are managed, quality assured and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Understand the impact on the current supplier service models of extracting services and their ability to maintain service levels.
  • Facilitate the management of associated cost in relation to any negotiation, exit and/or termination.
  • Manage the impact to any existing commercial financial models.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience of working within large scale, complex, procurement projects within a public sector IT environment
  • Proven experience of information and impact analysis, with ability to model multiple options and track change and risk
  • Working knowledge of benefits management and business change
  • Significant communication (verbal, written, listening) and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Data Protection, TUPE, procurement, contracts
  • Knowledge of project management good practice and reporting disciplines, with experience of working within a programme team
  • Familiarity with legal documentation and procurement procedures, with experience of drafting contributions
  • Proficient in producing cost models, exit and transition documentation
  • Ability to identify, build and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Familiar with management tools such as Jira/confluence/google docs
  • A project management qualification such as project management professional (pmp), prince2 practitioner, managing successful programmes (msp) or similar.
