UK Home Office Women In Tech

It was an absolute privilege to be invited back to the UK Home Office Women In Tech event! We have been fortunate enough to attend previous events, and this year was just as inspiring.

This time, the event was expertly run by Matt Stanley and the Think Digital Partners team, who brought their signature energy, professionalism, and inclusive atmosphere.

What an event!
So many incredible speakers, thought-provoking topics, and an open, supportive environment where truly inspiring and sometimes vulnerable stories were shared. One of the most eye-opening statistics for me was that 10% of women leave work due to menopause, with a further 15% reducing their hours! And that’s not even including things like maternity leave or other women-specific challenges.

Some of my personal highlights:
Carole Osterweil MAPM on body budgets and managing energy (book ordered!).
Holly Foxcroft’s inspiring discussion on neurodivergence and parenting
Jo Massey & Katie Gardiner on the small steps that create big impact: being a role model, mentoring, and sponsoring, sharing opportunities, and lifting others up.

A recurring theme throughout the day? Authenticity. Zoe Gill spoke about female leadership, challenging the outdated idea that leadership should look a certain way – particularly the expectation that women must adopt traditionally “male” traits.

I was also thrilled to speak with so many women about their own zigzag career journeys – each one a reminder that career paths are rarely linear, and that’s a strength, not a weakness.

It was also wonderful to catch up with the awe-inspiring Jessica Figueras – stay tuned for details on our upcoming webinar aimed at those interested in NED roles!

Finally, a huge shoutout to the Home Office Women In Tech Team and Think Digital Partners for not only creating this space for important conversations but also donating 100% of the event’s profit to The Children’s Society – a truly meaningful cause.
