Preparing a CV

Your cv is your sales tool, it is what will convince a client that they should be speaking with you. Here are some guidelines as to how a cv should appear and what information you should add to it as well as a template to help you create one.

Presentation:
  • Black ink, typed on A4 white paper.
  • Use bold headings to heighten visual impact.
  • Use spaces to highlight certain points,
  • Ensure that you have checked spellings and grammar.
  • Use bullet Points for visual impact and to highlight important areas
Length:
  • Keep it brief = 2/3 sides is perfect.
  • Look at every point and ask yourself, will this help me get an interview?
Style:
  • Keep it simple, don't use flowery language and around the third person.
  • Note form is fine, in fact it's preferred by those who have to sift through CV's.
